Email sequences

What is a breakup email and why does it work?

A breakup email is the final touch in a sequence — a clean "last note from me" that gives the prospect permission to say no. It is consistently one of the highest-reply touches in the whole sequence.

It works for three reasons: permission to opt out lowers the prospect’s defences, a genuine deadline creates real (not fake) urgency, and a final piece of value lands even if they never reply. The key is to mean it — a "breakup" followed by three more emails just trains people to ignore you.
